Cold Chamber
Cold Chamber Process
Cold chamber die casting is a permanent mold metal casting process. It uses a reusable mold, typically made from two precisely machined steel blocks. Large, robust machines exert significant clamping force to hold the mold halves together against the pressures exerted during casting.
This method is ideal for higher melting point alloys such as aluminum, brass, copper, and aluminum-zinc. During cold chamber die casting, pressures ranging from 3,000 psi to 50,000 psi (20 MPa to 350 MPa) are used to fill the mold cavities with molten material.
